Changes to Fisher trapping regulations for 2021 season

The New Hampshire Fish & Game Department has announced additional regulations to this year’s Fisher trapping rules.

In addition to the reduction in take from two years ago (current bag limit of two (2) per trapper), this year the Department will also require the lower jaw of each harvested FIsher to be submitted during fisher sealing.

The rule comes as NHFG works (with the continued assistance and involvement of the NHTA) to further studies on population health and dynamics with NH Fishers. Much biological data on individual health can be attained from the teeth and bone in the jaws of furbearers such as bobcats and fisher.

Fisher sealing (pelt tagging) is required within 10 days of the close of the season. The lower jaw of each fisher taken must now be submitted at the time of sealing.

The most current regulations for trapping, (including these changes to fisher) can be found in the most recent publication of the NHFG Hunting Digest, on page 32.

We encourage those with questions to contact the NH Fish & Game Department directly.
